Erasmus+

The Bundesrealgymnasium Gröhrmühlgasse in Wiener Neustadt is a grammar school with a long tradition and a clear educational mission: ‘We give education a home’. Our school stands for a comprehensive general education based on the holistic development of pupils, individual support, social responsibility and European openness.

Located in the eastern part of Austria, only 30 minutes from Vienna, we offer education at both ISCED Level 2 and ISCED Level 3. As a school specialising in the two branches of science (STEM subjects) and media design (IT, CAD, Art), we promote well-founded expertise, an independent and critical approach to knowledge, methodological skills and the ability to think in a networked way.

  •  In the natural sciences branch, modern laboratory facilities enable practical, experimental teaching that sharpens scientific thinking and ecological awareness.
  • In the media design branch, our pupils acquire digital skills, a creative understanding of media and technological multimedia skills – important key qualifications for an enlightened and networked society.

We are particularly keen to promote talent and aptitude: Through optional subjects, non-binding exercises, interest courses, participation in competitions, talent evenings and project weeks, we enable talented and gifted pupils to realise their full potential – in the spirit of diversity and educational equality.

As a Climate Alliance and Fairtrade school, we value sustainability, climate education and responsible behaviour. Our everyday school life is characterised by diversity, mutual respect and the conviction that everyone can make a contribution to the community.

As part of the Erasmus+ programme, we open our horizons beyond national borders. European cooperation and student mobility programmes strengthen intercultural learning and make global challenges tangible.

We are very pleased that our school will once again be taking part in a short-term Erasmus+ project in the 2026/27 school year. We are looking forward to many exciting insights, creative outcomes, and international collaboration.

Water as a vital resource: environmental education, sustainable concepts and digital skills (KA122-SCH 2025)

Finland Goes BRG – May 2026

In May 2026, we welcomed our exchange students from Honkajoki and Karvia, Finland, to BRG Gröhrmühlgasse. Together, we explored Wiener Neustadt, visited the City Museum, enjoyed a group dinner, and hiked on the Hohe Wand, including the Skywalk.

Joint lessons and shared activities encouraged cultural exchange and new friendships. The week was a great success, both academically and socially, and strengthened the partnership between our schools.

Visit to Finland – April 2026

Five days, two schools, countless new impressions: our visit to our Finnish partner schools in Karvia and Honkajoki was a real highlight! Together with the students from our partner schools, we carried out water measurements at three lakes and a spring, explored Finland’s unique natural landscapes, and documented our work for the project.

At the Geolearning Center, we examined water samples under the microscope, learned about Finnish flora and fauna, and worked on our stop-motion films. We also visited the Karvia water treatment plant to learn about wastewater purification and sustainable water management. Cultural highlights included visits to the Alpo Koivumäki Sculpture Park, meeting artist Anne Mattila.

Most of all, we were delighted that genuine friendships developed during these few days. We are already looking forward to welcoming the Finnish students to Wiener Neustadt soon!

Preparatory Visit – November 2025

As part of the Erasmus+ project „Water as a Vital Resource,“ teachers Silvia Prieler and Karin Czermak from BRG Gröhrmühlgasse visited the partner schools in Karvia and Honkajoki, Finland, where they worked closely with Finnish teachers Marika, Mirva, and Kalle to plan the upcoming student exchange.

A highlight of the visit was exploring different Finnish lakes where students will carry out water measurements during the project. The exchange also included a job-shadowing experience, providing valuable insights into teaching, learning, and school life.

We look forward to the next phases of the Erasmus+ project and to continuing this exciting international collaboration.
